Description
First use:
– Remove the cartridge packaging, grasp the top of the cartridge and place it in the Harvest Right filter cartridge holder.
– Press firmly on the cartridge until it is firmly sealed.
Cartridges should be replaced after about 15-20 uses, or sooner, depending on oil quality.
Oil filtration instructions :
1. Open the oil tank drain cock and let the oil drain into your oil filter. Make sure all the oil drains away by lifting the
back of the vacuum pump.
2. Wait for the oil to filter through your filtration system.
3. A small amount of water accumulates in the oil during each batch. When the oil is filtered, the water and oil
will separate. The water will sink to the bottom of the bottle, while the oil will float on the surface of the water.
4. Remove the water from the oil by pouring in the oil and discarding the water. Do not pour water into the
vacuum pump. This will eventually damage the pump.
5. Pour filtered (or new) oil into your vacuum pump.
How do I know if my filtered oil is fit for use? The best indications of cleanliness are as follows:
– Oil is free of debris or particles
– The oil is neither milky nor chalky
– The oil is clear (the color can be yellow or amber but still be clear).
– Your vacuum pump reaches a pressure (mTorr) suitable for freeze-drying.
How do I know when to change my oil filter?
– Oil does not flow through the filter (this can happen over time as debris accumulates).
– Oil doesn’t clean well (i.e. oil continues to be milky or full of debris)
